Digital Creativity Workshop - Day 2, at Sundial House playing outdoor games

Today we travelled the short distance to Sundial House, Churt, where the children who are taking part in the Digital Creativity Workshops this week, played outdoor games.

We began with a whole group game of Rounders.

We then split into four groups, each group opting to choose between:
Tennis, Trampolining, Zip Wire, a human-gymkhana(!)

Some children also chose to include golf, practicing their putting and driving skills.

After lunch, we played football together as a group, finishing with group activities once again.

End of Year Achievements and Presentations

After the pupils performed The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Neil Clark and Jonathan Furness took the opportunity to celebrate some of the achievements that the pupils had made over the course of a year.

Jonathan and the pupils began recalling some very recent experiences, the adventures of camping overnight at a site in Farnham.

Jonathan then presented the swimming certificates to each pupil for their achievements earlier this year.

Neil talked about the academic achievements made throughout the past year and summarised, in general terms, what he is expecting from the pupils next year.

Watch the full video to find out more about what was said and presented to the pupils.

Performance of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Pupils performed a wonderful adaptation of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

All the pupils did exceptionally well to learn the verses to this well-known poem, all in just a few weeks, with very limited opportunities to rehearse together.

Take a look at the photographs taken during the performance and the digital video that is available in two formats, low and high quality.

Camping Under Canvas amidst Thunder and Lightning really tests Students

As you'll see from the following page, all of our students succeeded in completing an overnight expedition sleeping under canvas in some very testing weather conditions.

I am pleased to report that all the students did fabulously well, and largely did most of the tasks themselves, from putting up tents, through to preparing a meal and cooking. We also indulged in some game playing, and later, learned to light fires from a flint and steel. Students cooked bananas and chocolate buttons in foil, and roasted marshmellows on the open fires.

Well done to the students for all their achievements.
